Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research, an international institute that works closely with movements of the working class and peasantry, is looking for an English-language editor. Pay is commensurate with experience. The position is remote, with the option to work in an existing Tricontinental office, if applicable.
Primary responsibilities:
- Working in a team setting to edit English-language publications produced by our offices and partners across the Global South. This includes:
- Editing for grammar, typos, consistency of terminology, overall coherence of the text and fluidity of writing, adherence to house style, and checking and formatting citations
- Ensuring that the text is ordered in a way that flows logically for the reader
- Fact and spell checking
- Meeting with writers and other team members to ensure that texts meet the institute’s guidelines and are submitted on time
Required:
- A person with excellent command over the English language, strong attention to detail and grasp of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and excellent writing skills
- A self-motivated person who is happy to work with a team and to continue to grow through study
- A person who aligns with the general orientation of the work and mission of our institute
- A person with experience writing and/or editing English texts
Preferred:
- A person who has decent Spanish and/or Portuguese language skill
- A person who is based in the Global South and has a background in progressive popular movements and organisations
